Complementary Formats – Pickleball, Padel and POP Tennis

Complementary Formats, such as Pickleball, Padel, and POP Tennis, are new programs gaining popularity. These formats share playing properties of ‘smaller court, shorter racquet, slower ball’ making them compatible to co-exist within select tennis venues successfully.

Tennis Victoria Statement

Tennis Victoria recognises the positive impact complementary formats (Padel, Pickleball, POP Tennis, Beach Tennis) can have on the sustainability, accessibility, and vibrancy of our tennis network.

We support the considered integration of these formats within Tennis Clubs and Coach venues to attract and retain players, increase court utilisation and ultimately improve the sustainability of our venues.

We recommend that the integration of these formats not come at the expense of well-utilised tennis facilities or tennis programming.

How to get started
