JUNIOR COMPETITION

FINALS UPDATE #2 (THURSDAY 2nd SEPTEMBER 2021)

In light of the announcements by the Government this week, and knowing there will be announcements specifically relating to Regional Victoria next week, changes may be made in regard to the finals for Tennis Geelong Senior and Junior competitions.
Any change will be announced Thursday morning based on the announcements.

FINALS UPDATE (31st AUGUST 2021)

The Tennis Geelong Seniors and Junior Saturday Winter Pennant Finals scheduled for the weekend of the 28th August have been held over, and if able, will be played from this week, ie.
 
Sudden death Semi Finals (1v4 and 2v3) Saturday 4th September
Grand Finals (winners of the two finals) Saturday 11th September
 
If we are not able to play on the 4th Sept, the format will move to 1v2 Grand Finals on the 11th September.

A junior competition for players under the age of 18 years at October 1 for the Summer season and for the following Winter season is conducted on Saturday mornings commencing at 9.00 am.

The Junior Competition for the 2021 Winter season has 135 teams competing in 19 sections. This Winter season Sections 7 Girls, 11 Boys and 12 Boys will be using low compression green balls. All other Sections will use new regular approved balls.

The Junior Competition for the 2020/21 Summer season has 177 teams competing in 23 sections. This Summer season, Sections 8 Girls, 14 Boys and 15 Boys will be using low compression green balls. All other Sections will use new regular approved balls. In addition this Summer,  two Sections using lower compression orange balls have been introduced. There are 14 teams in this competition playing over 9 weeks. 

The Junior Competition format consists of four player teams with single sex sections (four girls or four boys) playing first to six games (tie break at 6  games all for Sections 1 Boys and 1 Girls, this Winter tie break at 5 games all in Boys Sections 2 to 10 and Girls Sections 2 to 6, no tie break in Boys Sections 11 to 12 and Girls Sections 7. The single sex teams play six sets comprising four singles and two doubles. 

The Junior Winter competitions run from April to August and the Summer competitions run from October to March with a long break over the Christmas period.
