Australia are through to the girls’ ITF World Junior Tennis Finals after beating Japan in the quarterfinals of the Asia / Oceania Final Qualifying event.

With four teams guaranteed to progress to the finals, which will take place in Czech Republic in August, the 2-0 victory over the second seeds secured their safe passage.

Anastasia Berezov (NSW) came from a set down to take the opening singles rubber, before Annerly Poulos (ACT) sealed victory with a straight sets win over Kirara Morioka.

Australia will now take on Thailand in today’s semifinals after the host nation edged past the Philippines 2-1 in their quarterfinal.

“Anastasia showed her fitness and perseverance today, it was pleasing to see and we’re obviously delighted to qualify for the finals,” said team captain and former Fed Cup player Bryanne Crabb.
