Tennis Australia President, Steve Healy:

“As a long-time signatory to the Tennis Anti-Doping Program (TADP), Tennis Australia supports the processes being followed in the Maria Sharapova case.

“This case should serve as an important reminder to all athletes that it is their responsibility to know what substances they are using and ensure they are permissible under the anti-doping code. Maria has accepted responsibility for her mistake and has stated she will now go through a process of appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“We will continue to follow the appeals process and hope the matter will be resolved as soon as possible.”
