Daria Gavrilova achieved a career-high ranking of No.32 on Monday, which could see her seeded at Roland Garros, commencing in Paris on Sunday 22 May.

Gavrilova’s run to the quarterfinals in Madrid, where she ousted 12th seeded Elina Svitolina (UKR) and two-time Wimbledon winner and defending Madrid champion Petra Kvitova, has seen her find devastating form on clay heading into the second major of the year.

On Tuesday she starts her campaign in Rome, where she will meet Germany’s Sabine Lisicki in the first round.

Sam Stosur is also rediscovering the sort of claycourt form that took her to a Grand Slam final and two semis in Paris; the world No.22 reached the semis in Madrid last week before going down to eventual winner Simona Halep.

Her first round opponent in Rome this week is qualifier Alison Riske (USA).

Meanwhile, Arina Rodionova (Vic), Jessica Moore (WA), Olivia Rogowska (Vic) and Priscilla Hon (Qld) will contest a play-off next weekend for a Roland Garros main draw wildcard.

Rodionova enters the play-off just weeks after representing Australia on clay at the Fed Cup World Group Play-off in Brisbane, while Hon has made her claycourt form known by scooping the ITF title in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy at the weekend.
