Rod Laver Arena/Melbourne Park, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia, 11 January 2016 | Tennis Australia

Allphones Arena will transform into tennis mode for Sydney’s second installment of FAST4 Tennis, with a sold-out crowd to watch on as Australia takes on the World on Monday, 11 January.

A year on from the hugely successful global launch of the new fast format of tennis that saw Roger Federer(SUI) face off against Lleyton Hewitt (SA), another packed house will turn out in 2016 for the team event.

The event will be spearheaded by Spanish great and 14-time Grand Slam singles champion Rafael Nadal, who will team up with French showman Gael Monfils and legend Mats Wilander (SWE) to form the World Team.

The World trio will face off against the Australia and Hewitt, playing for the last time in Sydney before retiring, young gun Nick Kyrgios (ACT) and team captain Pat Cash (Vic).

Tennis NSW CEO Alistair MacDonald said it was fantastic to see the FAST4 Tennis event sell-out for a second straight year.

“Sydney has established itself as the home of FAST4 Tennis and the fact that the event has sold out for two years in a row is evidence of the strong demand for this entertaining new format,” said MacDonald.

“We have four world-class players showcasing FAST4 Tennis and two legends of the game leading their teams, as well as live music from the Stafford Brothers and a great new innovation from Hawkeye that will allow fans to have their say throughout the evening.

“It will be a fantastic night and a new, exciting tennis experience for everyone who comes out.”

For those who missed out on tickets, Australia vs The World in FAST4 Tennis will be televised live on Channel 7 from 7.30pm local time.

FAST4 Tennis is the innovative new format developed by Tennis Australia and launched 12 months ago in Sydney. Designed for the time poor tennis player, the four principle rules of FAST4 Tennis include no advantage scoring, play lets, a tiebreaker at three games all and first to four games wins. In 2016 a Power Play will be introduced, allowing each player to nominate one point each set that is worth two points to the winner.

Australia vs The World in FAST4 Tennis, proudly supported by official partners Budget Direct and Blackmores, will take place on Monday, 11 January 2016, with the NSW Government’s tourism and major event’s agency Destination NSW as strategic partner.
