Kooyong VIC 3144, Australia, 10 January 2014 | Rob Sheeley

Australian men will dominate proceedings at the AAMI Classic today with three players involved in exhibition matches at the Kooyong event. Despite a semifinal match being played, there is little doubt that most interest will be in the last match of the day; an exhibition between Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Murray.

Lleyton Hewitt, Nick Kyrgios and Jordan Thompson will all grace the court in what is sure to be a treat for Aussie fans.

19-year-old Thompson is first up in a match with Juan Monaco. Monaco originally withdrew from the event with a wrist injury and will take on the precocious Australian who has been impressive this week against much more experienced opposition.

The promising 18-year-old Nick Kyrgios takes centre stage second-up when he meets world No.33 Fernando Verdasco. Kyrgios will be keen to get some tennis under his belt as he returns from injury in preparation for the Australian Open.

The third match of the day is the all French semifinal encounter between Richard Gasquet and Gilles Simon, the winner of which will play Tomas Berdych in tomorrow’s final.

The final clash of the day is the all engrossing encounter between recent Brisbane International champion Lleyton Hewitt and world No.4 Andy Murray. Both will look to use the match as a tune-up for next week’s Australian Open.
