San Luis Potosi, Mexico, 29 September 2013 |

Australia has reached the final of the Junior Fed Cup finals in San Luis Potosi in Mexico after a 2-1 victory over the United States in Saturday’s semifinals.

On the same day, the Aussie Junior Davis Cup squad was unfortunately stopped at the semifinal stage, pipped 2-1 by Korea.

The boys’ squad will take on Germany in a play-off for third and fourth place at the ITF 16-and-under teams competition.

The Aussie girls’ team got off to the perfect start thanks to Priscilla Hon, who defeated the USA’s Michaela Gordon 7-5 6-4.

Although Naiktha Bains lost her singles match, she combined with Hon to record a dominant 6-2 6-3 win in the decisive doubles rubber over Katerina Stewart and Kaitlyn McCarthy.

Australia, the No.2 seeds, will face the top-seeded Russian team in Sunday’s final.
