The Brisbane International presented by Suncorp has won the prestigious ATP International Group Best Fan Experience Award for a second year in a row.

“We are thrilled to receive this award, it’s a great honour,” said tournament director Cameron Pearson.

“This is the second time the Brisbane International has taken out this esteemed award, the first was in 2012. Our fans are what make this event so special, and we continually work to deliver high quality experiences for all who attend.”

The award was voted on by members of the ATP World Tour; this year Brisbane was a joint winner with the China Open in Beijing.

It recognises the Brisbane International and China Open for delivering the best fan experiences of any tournaments in the Middle East, Asia, Russia and Pacific regions.

“Cameron Pearson and his team do a great job at continually looking for new and innovative ways to enhance the on-site fan experience,” said ATP International Region executive vice president Alison Lee.

“The results are there to see with the Brisbane International attracting more than 180,000 spectators over the last two years – more than any other ATP 250 tournament in the International Region.

“Everyone always looks like they are having a fantastic time, whether they are at Tennis Central or in a corporate suite.”

A star-studded line-up of players, including five top 20 men and eight top 10 women, signed on for the 2013 tournament to provide fans with incredible on-court action.

Australian favourite Lleyton Hewitt made his inaugural appearance at the Brisbane International in 2013.

Tennis Central, a dedicated entertainment precinct, was also a hit with patrons offering more activities, chill out areas and food outlets for fans to experience.

On New Year’s Day more than 2000 aspiring tennis players hit the courts at the Queensland Tennis Centre for Suncorp SunWise Kids Day.

This special day, designed especially for children, gave youngsters the opportunity participate in an array of tennis-themed activities, which included meeting their tennis heroes, playing Tennis Hot Shots on mini courts, having their photo taken with the Brisbane International trophies and soaking up the world-class tennis action.

In 2014 the Brisbane International is set to grow in stature yet again; 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has confirmed he will start his 2014 season in Queensland.
