Sam Stosur has nabbed a wildcard into next week’s WTA event in Eastbourne as she prepares ahead of the 2013 Wimbledon Championships.

The Australian, ranked No.14, is currently in the southern English coastal town practising on the lawns of Devonshire Park, where the historic tournament has been held since 1974.

Stosur will be aiming to gain some solid match practice ahead of her 11th Wimbledon campaign, a tournament where her best result came with a run to the third round in 2009.

Historically, she’s performed better at the Eastbourne tune-up, winning through to the semifinals in 2008, 2010 and 2011.

Stosur’s last competitive outing came at the French Open almost a fortnight ago, where she lost a torrid third round match to Jelena Jankovic.
