Jena Filmer of Mount Coolum, Queensland, is the MLC Tennis Hot Shot of the Year nominee for March.

“I feel really, really fantastic and proud!” said Filmer when told she had been nominated.

The eight-year-old Hot Shot from Ash Tennis Coolum will make her way to Melbourne Park in January for the trip of a lifetime when she attends Australian Open 2014. Jena will not only catch a glimpse of the world’s biggest tennis stars, she also receives a brand new MLC Tennis Hot Shots equipment pack to enjoy with family and friends.

Tennis is a sport her family has played for generations.

“My family have always loved and played tennis and now I am carrying on the tradition.

“My pappy and nanny use to have tennis nights at their house when my mum was growing up and my mum had lessons as a kid.

“Mum plays tennis for fun now with other mums and when I saw her play, all I wanted to do was play tennis too.”

In December Jena received her first racquet and took up weekly tennis lessons with coach Andrew Ash.

> What is MLC Tennis Hot Shots?

“For Christmas my pappy was very excited to give me my first racquet and my mum now takes me to my very own tennis lessons each week.

“Tennis is so much fun to play and to watch,” she added.

Jena joins Ryan Kaminsky and Charlie Jones as the first three nominees for this year’s MLC Tennis Hot Shot of the Year competition. They are in the running to win $5000 thanks to our Official Partner, MLC, and a tennis lesson with former world No.8 Alicia Molik and three friends.
