Sam Stosur has produced an overpowering performance in the second round of the WTA Family Circle Cup in Charleston to dominate Marina Erakovic.

Third-seeded Stosur routed the New Zealander 6-1 6-2 on the green clay at Daniel Island Tennis Centre, wrapping up victory in one hour and 13 minutes.

Stosur, who won the title in 2010, in the third round meets Canadian qualifier Eugenie Bouchard, a surprise 6-4 3-6 6-1 winner over British 16th seed Laura Robson.

Playing in her first match since withdrawing prior to her quarterfinal match at Indian Wells, Stosur looked as if she’d never been away from the tour as she set about dismantling the 65th-ranked Erakovic.

The Aussie clobbered five aces, won 75 per cent of first serve points and saved all break points she faced throughout the contest.

Stosur, currently ranked world No.9, progresses to the last 16 in Charleston for the fourth straight year.
