Australia’s Fed Cup team will play on clay in Fribourg, Switzerland, next year in their World Group II tie against the Swiss.

The two teams are due to meet on the 4-5 February 2012 at the Forum Fribourg in what will be Australia’s third Fed Cup tie against Switzerland since 2006.

Australia and Switzerland have met previously on five different occasions with Australia leading the head-to-heads 4-1. The last time the two teams met was in 2009 when Australia won 3-1 in Mildura on grass.

Australia was relegated to World Group II after they lost 3-2 to Ukraine in their Fed Cup World Group Play-off in Melbourne last April. They need to win both ties in 2012 to return to the World Group.

The deadline for official team nominations is 10 days prior to the event.
