Much anticipated tickets for the Australia versus Switzerland Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Play-off will go on sale on Thursday 25 August at 9:00 am.

The two countries meet on 16-18 September at The Royal Sydney Golf Club, Rose Bay, Sydney, and are playing for a berth in the World Group (the top 16 nations) for next year’s competition.

Three day series tickets are available at $130.90 for adults and $102.90 for concession.

Tennis Australia Director of Commercial Steve Ayles said the tickets are tremendous value for money.

“A Davis Cup tie is a unique international event and tennis fans can expect to see something special when players are representing their country.”

“This tie carries an even greater weight because a win in Sydney would see Australia return to the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group for the first time since 2007,” Ayles continued.

The final team for the tie does not have to be named until early September, but already a strong group of contenders is emerging. Davis Cup captain Pat Rafter, coach Tony Roche and Tennis Australia’s Head of Professional Tennis Todd Woodbridge are all working closely with the Davis Cup squad players in the lead-up to the US Open.

On the Swiss side, world No.3 Roger Federer is believed to be factoring a visit to Sydney into his post-US Open plans, as is Swiss No.2 and world No.14 Stan Wawrinka.

Australia, ranked 20 in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, currently leads Switzerland 4-0 in the head to heads, with their most recent meeting, in Geneva in 2006, resulting in a 3-2 win for Australia.

The Australian Davis Cup team defeated China 3-1 in Beijing in the Asia-Oceania Group Davis Cup by BNP Paribas tie in May to progress to this World Group Play-off.
