Jarmila Gajdosova has progressed to the third round of Wimbledon while Bernard Tomic remains locked in a battle with Igor Andreev after bad light stopped play.
Gajdosova recorded a straight-sets win over Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic.
The Australian defeated her former juniors doubles partner 7-6(1) 6-3 in one hour and 18 minutes in the rain-affected match out on court 16.
She will next play the winner of world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki and Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano.
In Tomic’s second round clash against Andreev, the Russian was leading 6-4 7-5 3-6 when officials suspended play as darkness descended on the All England Club around 9pm.
The 18-year-old Australian struggled to combat Andreev’s booming groundstrokes in the first two sets with the Russian constantly on the attack.
Andreev scored an early break of serve to take a 2-0 lead in the first set before Tomic came to life, reeling off five consecutive games and then closing out the set to keep the match well and truly alive.
