Teenage wildcard Sally Peers’ week of joy ended abruptly at Pat Rafter Arena on Wednesday when she crashed out of the Brisbane International in the second round.
Following a first round boilover against seeded Russian Alisa Kleybanova on Monday, Peers was given a wildcard to next week’s Hobart International but failed to celebrate against Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
After a solid start to be 3-3, the Melbourne 19-year-old fell in a heap and went down 6-4 6-1 in 66 minutes.
The world No.67, Zahlavova is likely to meet French fourth seed Marion Bartoli in the quarter-finals.
