Tickets for the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round clash between Australia and Italy go on sale at 12 noon (AEST) Tuesday 23 November.
Australia will compete against 2010 champions Italy, in their first round clash at Domain Tennis Centre, Hobart from Saturday 5 to Sunday 6 February 2011.
Tickets are being sold as a two-day series package with adult tickets priced at $62.90.
Concession and children’s tickets will be $54.90, while family passes are $179.90.*
Australia’s No.1 player, Samantha Stosur, and French Open champion Francesca Schiavone are likely to spearhead the two teams in what will be a replay of the 2010 French Open final.
The two top10 women will be out to lead their teams to victory in what will be a tight contest and Australia’s first World Group tie since 2004.
Australian Fed Cup Captain, David Taylor said that the 2010 Fed Cup champions would pose an exciting challenge for the Australian team.
“The World Group boasts some very tough competition,” Taylor said.
“We’re looking forward to taking on Italy, who has a tremendous record in Fed Cups. They are a champion team and, like the Australian team, they are all very passionate about playing for their country.
“I would expect it to be a tough and close challenge but one which the girls and I are really looking forward to.
“We hope to have an extra edge over the Italians with a passionate and supportive Tasmanian crowd on our side cheering us on.”
Tennis Australia’s Manager Major Events Steve Ayles said that he is looking forward to seeing how the Australian team performs in Tasmania.
“This will be the first time that Hobart has hosted a Fed Cup tie and a great opportunity for tennis fans to see the Australian team take on the No.1 seed.
“The centre in Hobart has gone through a major upgrade in the last two years and the facilities are world class. Add to this some fierce competition and we have a fantastic event that we hope will inspire Tasmanians to come out in force in February.”
Team nominations are due to be submitted to the ITF 10 days before the tie begins.
Tickets will be available through Ticketek, www.ticketek.com.au or call 132 849.
