AN APPLE A DAY…

Applecross Senior High School has ended the year on a high finishing 4th in the Australian Schools Teams Tennis Championship in Wagga Wagga. The results see Applecross leading the Western Australian tennis school charge and heading the government schools nation wide. The five boys representing Applecross included James Eaton (pictured), Rhys Johnson, Blake Cheshire, Anthony D’Ignazio and Shaun Moore.

WA YOUNG GUN TAKES 14s TOP SPOT

Nina Catovic (WA) has taken out the Optus 14s Australian Championship in Melbourne Park, defeating New Zealand's Emily Fanning in straight sets 7-6(3) 6-4 claiming her first Australian Championship.

Catovic is part of Tennis West's National Academy which was established in Perth during September, and brings together WA's best junior players in a professional training environment.

TALENT SEARCH GETS INTERNATIONAL FLAVOUR

Does your 6-11 year old have the passion, drive and determination of a Casey Dellacqua or Lleyton Hewitt? Do they enjoy playing different sports? Do they have good hand-eye coordination? If the answer to any of these is YES, then Tennis Australia and Tennis West are looking for you!!!

CLOUGH CUP SHOWDOWN

The Clough Cup was held from the 6th-8th November 2008 at the Goldfields Tennis Club. The tournament had a great turn out with 72 13/U boys entering making up 17 teams and representing 9 different regional zones including Central Districts, Moore Districts, Lower great Southern, Great Southern, Upper Great Southern, Midwest, South Coast, South West and Goldfields.

WANGARA KIA SORRENTO INTERNATIONAL - 29 NOV - 7 DEC 2008

Congratulations to Victorians Marinko Matosevic and Olivia Rogowska who claimed the Wangarra Kia Sorrento International Men's and Women's Title! Matosevich defeated Adam Feeney convincingly in straight sets 6-3 7-6(4), with Rogowska taking the honors against Chiaki Okadaue (Japan) in 3 sets 3-6 6-4 6-2. Congratulations to both winners!

The WA AMT 5 was held at the State Tennis Centre between Tuesday 18th Nov and the finals played on Friday 21st Nov. Congratulations to Adam Hubble winner of the Men's Main Draw Final and Michaela Johansson winner of the Women's Final. Well done to all participants involved!
