The Coaching Excellence – Development Award at this year’s Tennis Victoria Player Awards celebrates the dedication and achievements of outstanding coaches who have made significant contributions to player development and the sport of tennis in Victoria.

Each coach has been recognised individually for their exceptional leadership, technical knowledge, and commitment to fostering the growth of tennis at all levels.

This award honours coaches who have shown exceptional coaching performance, demonstrated innovative approaches, and made a positive impact on players’ careers and personal development.

Meet the finalists:

Michael Logarzo

Michael Logarzo, Director of ML Tennis, is a Tennis Australia High Performance Level 3 Coach with nearly 20 years’ experience coaching juniors and professional players. Leading a team of internationally qualified coaches, Michael provides a holistic approach that develops both athletic performance and personal growth. His coaching philosophy focuses on building strong technical foundations, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and mental resilience, helping players achieve their goals while growing as individuals.

Notable long-term players coached by Michael include Zoe Hives and Musemma Cilek, reflecting his commitment to developing high-performing athletes and empowering them to ‘create their story’.

Adrian Lombardi

Adrian Lombardi, Head Coach and Director of Tennis at Whites Lane Mulgrave Tennis Club, is a Tennis Australia Level 3 High Performance and Talent Development Coach with over 30 years’ experience. A former ATP satellite, Grade 1, and State Grade competitor, Adrian has coached players of all levels. He has mentored Daniel Jovanovski, guiding him to multiple Australian Junior titles and a Wild Card into the 2024 Australian Open ITF Junior Grand Slam, and Amy Stevens, who competed at the 2020 Australian Open Juniors. Adrian’s coaching combines technical skill, tactical awareness, physical conditioning, and mental strength to help players reach their full potential.

Jarryd Maher

Jarryd Maher, Head Coach at Tennis World Melbourne Park and Albert Reserve, is a Tennis Australia High-Performance Qualified Coach who has worked with top Australian players including Daria Saville, Andrew Harris, and Matthew Romios. A former professional player, Jarryd spent five years in Europe before returning to Melbourne to focus on coaching. At the 2024 Australian Open, he guided Jaimee Fourlis and Andrew Harris to their first Grand Slam Semi Final in mixed doubles, a reflection of his dedication and expertise!

George Vogiatzis

George Vogiatzis, Head Coach at Vida Tennis Academy, is an Australian High-Performance Tennis Coach with 16 years of experience developing players from beginner to National and International levels.
George has coached high-performing juniors, including Scarlett Dattoli and Novak Palombo, and has produced three national champions in the past 12 months, with multiple athletes in the National Development Squad and Tennis Australia Academy program. Recognised in 2019 as a Tennis Australia Next-Generation High-Performance Coach, George continues to advance his expertise through his Performance Level 3 Coaching Qualification, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in player development.
