Melbourne weather was no match for our Premier League players, who took to the court for round five at Royal South Yarra after a lengthy rain delay.

With a shortened format in place due to bad weather, the players took advantage of every game and provided a fantastic spectacle for those who braved the elements to support the competition.

Zuzana Zlochova led the way for Grace Park, defeating Harkaway’s Prisha Baliga 4-1, 4-1. The rest of the team followed suit, and Grace Park achieved their first win of the season in a dominant style.

Kimberley Birrell was impressive for Royal South Yarra, winning her singles clash against Jaimee Fourlis comfortably. But the MCC Glen Iris women weren’t going down without a fight, and they managed to climb their way up to the win thanks to impressive performances from Alana Parnaby, Zoe Hives and Genevieve Lorbergs.

Bundoora RMIT also kept up their good form in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions. Although the women couldn’t get the job done against an undefeated Kooyong, it was a tight tussle between the two sides, and RMIT came away with much to recommend them. The Bundoora men came away winners, propelling them up the ladder to third and with it all to play for in the next and final round.

The Kooyong and Hume clash came down to the wire, but it was Hume that came away with the win and a spot in the top two.

MCC Glen Iris men made quick work of Royal South Yarra, stunning the home team and claiming all three rubbers. The victory sets them up perfectly to qualify for the big dance on Saturday, with just the final round at Kooyong to play.
