On Tuesday 29 December Tennis Victoria was pleased to recognise Anthony’s Whelan’s contribution to tennis when he was presented with a Tennis Service Award.

No job is out of bounds for Anthony, he organises teams and tournaments, cleans courts and is the go-to person for the club’s Book a Court system.

Anthony joined the Anglesea Tennis Club in 1973 when he initiated the clubs inaugural Mixed team in the Saturday competition.

Anthony was also awarded a Life Membership to the Anglesea Tennis Club in 1988.

Anthony has been on the committee since 1983, including being the Membership Secretary throughout his whole tenure and is also the current President of the Club.

Tennis Victoria’s Regional Tennis Manager Paul Senior and Club Development Officer Cam Govan were lucky to be on hand at Anglesea’s Annual Open Day to recognise this hardworking, generous, and humble volunteer – Congratulations Anthony!
