Junior tennis is now available for children who are blind or vision impaired thanks to Blind Sports and Recreation Victoria and a team of volunteers.

Supported by the Tennis Victoria’s ACE Grants Program, Junior Blind Tennis will run alongside the social tennis for adult blind and vision impaired players every second Friday evening at the National Tennis Centre, Melbourne Park.

“We had a few kids come to sessions in term one this year, they loved it and came back for every session,” Tennis Victoria Project Officer Danni Lowerson said.

“We are hoping to get a few more kids involved in terms three and four this year with the support of volunteers and coaches from Tennis World.”

Members of the adult program are still celebrating after playing in the first ever international tournament for players who are blind or vision impaired in Spain earlier this year. Despite not winning in their grades, the team represented Australia proudly bringing home the Fair Play Award.
