Tennis Victoria is proud to recognise Yallambie Tennis Club as our Affiliate of the Month. In just two short years, the club has experienced remarkable growth, transforming into a vibrant hub for tennis in the Banyule community.

Since 2024, Yallambie Tennis Club has grown from 67 members to over 160, increasing revenue by up to 250% through court hire, membership fees, café sales, uniforms and grants. The club has also expanded its competition offerings, now fielding nine additional teams across Friday nights, Saturday mornings and afternoons, and Sunday mornings and afternoons.

Thanks to a strong partnership with Solinco Sports, Yallambie Tennis Club offers a local pro shop cupboard, giving the community access to authentic Nike uniforms and Solinco products at discounted rates. “This partnership also provides members with discounts on products, making them more accessible,” says Club President Iain Hebden. “Our uniforms are authentic Nike shirts, hoodies, and jackets, and we offer both a home and away strip.”

Yallambie has introduced a volunteer-run café, Café El Presidente, supported by Coffee MIO and Bakers Delight, offering coffee, drinks and snacks. “This initiative provides an alternate source of income to the club and an opportunity to improve social connections with our members and visitors,” Iain explains.

The club has also launched community-focused events, including mini-Olympics, pickleball, trivia nights, club championships, colouring competitions, and Christmas parties. “Club day winners receive a customised club shirt of the colour of their choice, and colouring competition winners have the chance to have their design featured on next year’s membership item,” Iain says, highlighting how these events bring people together.

With increased revenue, Yallambie Tennis Club has invested in new windbreakers, scoreboards, drag mats, split systems, BBQs, and competition boards, with plans to introduce new kitchen appliances, on-court water bubblers, hoses, and tennis nets. “We have a renewed strategy, generated with support from member voices, that highlights areas for improvement and desired outcomes,” Iain adds.

“We are so thrilled to have made such an impact in such a short time, and we are energised to continue the momentum and bring joy to the community through these great initiatives,” he concludes.
