The 2026 Kooyong Classic provided the perfect stage for an engaging and high-energy activation delivered by Tennis Victoria in partnership with Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), as part of the event’s exciting new era. Victorians use more than three billion drink containers every year, yet many still end up in landfill or as litter in local communities across the state. Through this partnership, CDS aims to increase recycling and reduce litter by cleaning up our environment, while making recycling convenient and accessible through a wide range of refund points across Victoria.
Held from 13–15 January 2026 at the historic Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, the Classic welcomed fans to Victoria’s spiritual home of tennis, with the Kooyong Common becoming a central hub for interactive experiences on the famous grass courts.
A standout feature of the Common was the CDS speed serve activation, which gave participants of all ages the chance to test their serving skills and measure the speed of their serve. With Tennis Victoria staff and past Tennis Victoria Future Leader volunteers on hand to manage the activation and provide guidance, the experience was welcoming, inclusive and easy for everyone to get involved in and proved to be a fan favourite from young children trying tennis for the first time to seasoned players keen to see how fast they could serve.
Running across all three days of the event, the activation proved extremely popular and quickly became a staple within the Kooyong Common precinct. Long lines and constant participation reflected the strong appeal of the experience, with some impressive serve speeds recorded throughout the Classic, including some serves clocking over 200km/h!
The CDS speed serve activation not only added excitement and energy to the Kooyong Classic atmosphere, but also reinforced the partnership’s commitment to community engagement, sustainability and active participation. Its strong presence across the event helped create a memorable, hands-on experience that connected fans, families and players through tennis.
