It is an exciting time for tennis in Victoria, and we have ambitious plans to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. We are transforming how we deliver tennis through our Purpose to “create safe and inclusive thriving Victorian tennis communities, enabling more people to play more often.”

Tennis Victoria is the State Sporting Organisation for Tennis in Victoria and a Member Association of Tennis Australia. It represents over 790 affiliate clubs, centres, associations, regions, and their members throughout Victoria. With 1.7M+ Australians playing tennis, Tennis Victoria, and its staff of 54 people, play an integral part in managing strategic relationships in Victoria across the State Government, Local Government, Education Sector, and private entities.

As part of our ongoing strategic journey, we will have two Board Director Positions available for election at the November 2025 Annual General Meeting. As active members of the Board, the Directors will support the Chair and Board in providing strategic direction and effective management oversight.   • Wish to enhance and share their governance experience with a highly regarded sport that works closely with tennis organisations and communities across Victoria, local / State and Federal Governments, and Tennis Australia.
  • Reflect the inclusive tennis communities we serve, bringing cognitive diversity, experience, and innovative ideas to our skills-based Board.
  • Demonstrate successful governance and Director experience and qualifications.
  • Exhibit strong skills in one or more of the following areas (*Definitions are available in the Position Description):
    • Commercial, Partnerships, and Sponsorships
    • Legal and Compliance
    • Government and Government Relations 
    • Advocacy and Lobbying
    • Facility Ownership and Management

 

About the role:

  • The Tennis Victoria Board is comprised of up to nine Directors. Six Directors are Elected by Tennis Victoria’s affiliated Tennis Bodies, and three Directors can be Appointed by the Tennis Victoria Board.
  • Directors serve a three-year term and are eligible to serve up to three consecutive terms, i.e., nine years of full service on the Board.
  • There are approximately eight Board Meetings annually, every one to two months from mid-February, generally at 5:30pm on a Wednesday. These are held at the Tennis Victoria Offices at AAMI Park with an expectation for in-person attendance (however, videoconference attendance may be accommodated in limited approved circumstances).
  • There is an expectation, based on skillset, that Board members will also serve on a sub-committee.
  • Director roles are voluntary, without remuneration. Reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred within the role is available, subject to Tennis Victoria’s Director Expenses Policy.
