4 August 2025 | Tennis Victoria

Traralgon Tennis Association played host to an outstanding weekend of junior tennis as over 65 players from 14 metro associations and regional teams across Victoria came together to compete in the Frank Sedgman Cup event.

Across two days of near-perfect winter weather, the talent of Victoria’s next generation was on display as the courts came alive with high-quality tennis. A total of 40 matches and 240 sets were played across seven competitive rounds.

Following the completion of pool rounds, teams were placed into playoff divisions, with the top four, NSJTA, Waverley, Peninsula, and Eastern Region, battling it out for the 2025 Frank Sedgman Cup title. After hard-fought semifinals, NSJTA and Waverley emerged as finalists.

The final, played on Traralgon’s show courts and backed by an enthusiastic crowd, delivered a thrilling contest. In a tightly fought match, NSJTA secured victory over Waverley, winning 4 sets to 2, with both teams tied on 29 games.

Congratulations to the winning NSJTA team: Carter Li, Cruz Venturini, Bianca Novacevski, and Sofia Keren Baron.

Tennis Victoria extends a big thank you to the Traralgon Tennis Association for hosting the event, with special recognition to Susie, Woofa, and the dedicated volunteers who ensured the venue and canteen were running smoothly all weekend. We also thank Latrobe City Council for their ongoing support in bringing major junior events like this to the region.
