7 February 2025 | Tennis Victoria

Swan Hill is gearing up to welcome 222 teams and 1,300+ participants to the region when Tennis Victoria Country Week begins on Sunday 9 February.

Tennis Victoria Country Week is the largest grass court tournament in the world, featuring 28 grades across men’s and women’s team competitions.

Tennis Victoria CEO, Kim Kachel said, “We are thrilled to bring Country Week to Swan Hill in 2025. With 222 teams registered, this year’s event marks the largest in our history and highlights the enduring appeal of this iconic tournament.

Tennis Victoria Country Week not only showcases top-level grass court tennis but also delivers significant economic benefits to the host region. This year, the event is expected to inject over $3.3 million into the local economy, reinforcing its importance both on and off the court.”

Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Stuart King stated, “Country Week Tennis is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our beautiful region while delivering a significant boost to our local economy. It’s great for our town, with local accommodation facilities filled and hospitality venues thriving.”

Both Swan Hill Rural City Council and the Swan Hill Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club have been instrumental in preparing 96 grass courts to host the week-long tournament. “We deeply appreciate the hard work and dedication of the local community and our partners in making this event possible,” Kachel added.

Teams from across Australia and New Zealand will converge at Swan Hill, with participants traveling from far and wide, including Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Albury, Bathurst, Camden, Devonport, and of course, many parts of country Victoria and Melbourne.

The festivities kick off with the 2025 Country Week Welcome Event at the Swan Hill Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday 9 February. At this event, Tennis Victoria will also officially launch the Sustainable Regional Tennis Project – a $1 million investment in partnership with Tennis Australia and the Victorian Government to grow tennis across regional communities. This project will have targeted initiatives focused on supporting the Coaches, Volunteers, and Local Champions who are the backbone of regional tennis.

Tennis Victoria is proud to give back to the local community and will also be doing so by donating a portion of all Country Week merchandise sales to Swan Hill District Health. This is to support the Mallee MRI Appeal. The Mallee MRI Appeal is raising funds to purchase an MRI machine for the local region, significantly improving healthcare access for residents.
