Australian’s most prestigious junior event, the December Showdown is underway at Melbourne Park with more than 180 juniors competing for national titles in the 12/u, 14/u, 16/u and 18/u Australian Championships which runs until Saturday 17 December. Victorian’s have been on court all week challenging for titles with great success over the courts.

The 14/u and 18/u champions were crowned over the weekend, with Victorian’s 17-year-old Stefani Webb winning the 18/u Girls’ Singles Australian Championship and 14-year-old Daniel Jovanovski  winning the 14/u Boys’ Singles Championship.

Both Stefani and Daniel features in the Doubles in their age group finals where they were also crowned Champions with their team mates Anja Nayar and Cameron Burton respectively.

In other finals, Victoria’s Ava Beck was Runner Up in the 14/u Girls Singles final and Scarlett Dattoli combined with Gina Cha (Qld) to take the Girls’ 14/u Doubles title. Cooper Errey teamed up with Queenslands Marcus Schoeman to win the Boys’ Doubles 18/u title.

Play for the 16/u and 12/u events has started with the best players from around the country competing for national titles. The finals for both age groups will take place this Saturday 17 December.
