Congratulations to Eaglemont Mens Grade 2 pennant team who have advanced to this weekend’s pennant Grand Final against Narre Warren North after a thrilling 2 game victory over Eaglemont #2 in Saturday’s semifinal.

In a match billed as the “Eaglemont Derby”, Eaglemont #1 emerged victorious against Eaglemont #2 in a clash that came down to the very last set!

With both teams having finished top in their respective sections, the match was expected to come down to the wire, and the semi final battle did not disappoint!

The derby was evenly poised at 1-1 after the doubles matches were split, with Jack and Max Hartnett defeating Guy Franklin and Wes Fry 9-7, as Callum Metcher and Ben Marlborough prevailed 8-5 over Shane Scrutton and Tawana Manzvera.

In the singles, Shane Scrutton defeated Jia Feng at the number four position 6-2, 6-4 before Ben Marlborough survived cramp and two match points in the third set super tiebreaker (11-9) to defeat Max Hartnett at number 3.

With the score locked at 2-2, Eaglemont #2 Number 1 Jack Hartnett recovered strongly after losing the first set 6-2,
holding on to defeat Guy Franklin in another 3rd set tiebreaker. Callum Metcher then proved too consistent for Tawana Manzvera, winning the deciding singles 6-3, 6-2 and clenching the win for Eaglemont #1!

Eaglemont #1 now take on Narre Warren North in the Grand Final at Royal South Yarra, after Narre Warren North defeated Dendy Park 5-0 in their semi final.
