Hayden Eastwood from Castlemaine Lawn Tennis Club is the Community Champion of the Month for June 2022.  

Since beginning as President in 2021 Hayden has made a huge impact to the club, hitting the ground running. One of the first implementations was to welcome all participants to the Club with a sign acknowledging the Indigenous traditionally landowners. A Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony delivered by a community Elder was delivered followed by the unveiling of the new welcome sign. Hayden’s key focus in his role as President is to connect the club as much as he can with the whole Castlemaine community. Part of this focus has included organising a weekly LGBTQI+ hitting group (Rainbow Sets), the local artist community have been engaged to create the Club Championship trophies and the club is also involved with Rally 4 Ever. 

Hayden’s current initiatives that he’s working on include –  

• Smashing the Patriarchy, one ball at a time – increasing female participation 
• Love All – Stronger ties with marginalized sections of the community.
• Art of Winning – closer ties with Castlemaine artistic communities
