Tennis Victoria’s Pennant competition is set for a radical change ahead of the 2022 season, by altering a scoring rule that the competition has implemented for the last 138 years.

The scoring required to win a game in Pennant will change in 2022, with the third point of each game moving from ’40’ to ’45’.

It’s a large change to the competition, which has previously aligned with other tennis competitions around Australia with scoring of 15, 30, 40 before winning a game.

“We were going to make this change in the 140th year, but we thought, why not bring it forward 12 months” said a Tennis Victoria Spokesperson

“It’s a logical step for the competition, and for tennis – helping everyone playing to remember their 15 times tables before they win a game” said a Pennant player ready for the upcoming season.

 More to come.
