15 March 2022 | Tennis Victoria

Twelve Victorian senior athletes will travel to Palm Beach in Florida for the ITF World Championships, with six of the eight teams to be captained by a Victorian.

In the Super Seniors, Tennis Victoria’s Most Outstanding 30+ Tennis Senior winner of 2021, Glenn Busby will lead the 65+ men’s team as they compete for the Britannia Cup, while fellow Victorians Judith Buzza and Andrew Rae have been selected as captain of the Kitty Godfree Cup 65+ and Jack Crawford 70+ cup teams respectively.

Rae will be keen to replicate his run at last year’s competition in Spain, where he reached the quarterfinals before losing a three-set thriller to Denmark’s Claus Pedersen.

Victoria will be represented by eight athletes in the Seniors tournament in Boca Raton, with the Alice Marble Cup team consisting of an incredible three athletes from our state. Three of the five teams boast Victorian captains, highlighting the incredible depth of talent in our senior competitions.

The Super Seniors tournament kicks off on Sunday April 24 in Palm Beach, while the Seniors will descend on Palm Beach County a week later on Sunday May 1.
