25 November 2021 | Tennis Victoria

Make tennis balls even greener by joining Game On Recycling in their mission to recycle sports equipment across Australia.

An estimated 10 million tennis balls are used each year to play the game we love, but unfortunately end up in landfill when they’re no longer needed.

To combat this environmental issue, #scoreapointforplanetearth by recycling tennis balls through Game On Recycling.

Game On Recycling, a partnership between Australia New Zealand Recycling Platform (ANZRP) and Wilson Sporting Goods Co, is a new sports equipment recycling program that aims to collect and recycle tennis balls across Australia.

All items collected as part of the program will be sent to a processing facility in West Melbourne and sorted into two categories:

  • Tennis balls that can be reused and put back into circulation, thereby extending the life of the product; or
  • Tennis balls that have well and truly come to the end of their life and need to be recycled

They’re currently searching for new clubs that share a passion for sustainability to be added to the program, and hope to add roughly 25 Victorian clubs from both rural and metropolitan areas by the end of the year.

Being a collection partner is 100% free, so if you’re interested, please click here. More information on the project can also be found here.

Expressions of interest are needed by 30 November 2021, so make tennis balls even greener and get in quick!
