Judy Unwin is the longest serving member of the Mt Carmel Tennis Club, first joining the club in 1977.

In 2021 she has been recognised with a Highly Commended Service award for her outstanding service to the sport of tennis in Victoria.

Judy is now in her 35th year of official duties at her beloved tennis club. She’s undertaken the role of Secretary and Treasurer and is always there to assist with and participate in Open days, Club Championships, social tennis, competition, working bees and fundraisers. She also represents the club at Association meetings.

The club moved location in 1989 from Macedon Street to the current home at Stewarts Lane. Judy was an important facilitator in this move, including the construction of four new en-tout-cas courts and the negotiation of clubroom usage.

In April 2006 the Mt Carmel TC recognised Judy’s contribution by awarding her Life Membership and she has also had a court (Court 2) named in her honour.

Judy still plays regular weekly competition, and captains her midweek ladies team – a role she has held for many years.  She is the go-to person for information and advice whenever there is a need. Judy is highly regarded by all and is a great advocate for tennis.

Congratulations on receiving your Highly Commended Service Award Judy.
