Tennis Victoria Country Week 2021 – Entries now open!

Tennis Victoria is delighted to announce Country Week 2021 is open for entries

COVID-19 has created numerous challenges
for all of us, and Country Week is no different.  We are sure everyone will understand that with
COVID-19 restrictions in place across Victoria we have had to adapt Country
Week to ensure it is safe – for players, volunteers, staff and for our local
communities.  Tennis is committed to
creating a safe and inclusive sport for all, and Country Week is at the heart
of this commitment.

Please find below details of your new
look COVIDSafe Country Week 2021.  We
encourage everyone to read this information carefully before registering.  The new look event is based on feedback from
our Country Week 2020 Survey – with huge thanks to everyone who completed this
– and Victorian Government COVID-19 restrictions at the time of writing.  It is
quite possible restrictions will change again before the event takes place,
registered participants will be kept up to date with how such changes might
affect Country Week.

Entries

To ensure we deliver a COVIDSafe event,
within Government restrictions we must cap entries for 2021 at 200 teams with a
maximum of 8 and minimum of 4 players per team.

Entries that have already been received are
confirmed as having a place in the tournament – please therefore let us know if
you no longer wish to participate so we can offer your place to another team.

Entries must be completed online, and
payment must be via bank transfer.

Playing format

Current Victorian Government
restrictions allow us to have a maximum of 1000 patrons on site at any one
time. This includes those playing on court, those waiting to play and those who
have just finished playing. The planned playing format within these
restrictions is:

  • Each day of play will be broken into 3
    sessions (no change from 2020)
  • Teams will play 4 x 8 game sets in a
    match (no change from 2020).

Please be aware, under current
restrictions, each team will only be permitted to have 6 people onsite
per session. This may change before the event commences, we will continue to
advise of changes to restrictions before the event.

Player and Official
Declaration

To ensure we keep our community safe,
and play within COVIDSafe regulations, each player and official is required to
sign the Player and Official Declaration before attending and playing at
Country Week.  This will be sent to all
registered participants one week prior to the event and you will be asked to
complete it online.

Social activities

Social activities in 2021 will be
different to previous years, but will still be a lot of fun and in keeping with
the spirit of Country Week.

Sunday’s Welcome Night at the Swan Hill Lawn
Tennis Club will go ahead. Under current restrictions we look forward to
welcoming everyone to the Country Week event.

Social activities throughout the week
will look different.  Instead of having one
big venue for everyone to attend each night, we will announce a number of
different venues open each night for you to book into.  Attending the social events supports the Swan
Hill Lawn Tennis Club as the host of Country Week, and we hope everyone will
still have a great night out, albeit in smaller venues around the town.  Details of booking evening activities will be
sent to those registered for Country Week nearer the time.

Country Week Forums

We appreciate that these updates might
leave you with a few questions, so we’ll be hosting two virtual forums for you
to join and ask any questions you might have regarding Country Week 2021.

Both forums will be the same. To join
one of the forums, please register your details via the links below and we will
send you a confirmation email with a link to join.
