Boyd McLaws was recently recognised for his service to tennis, in particular the Dingley Tennis Club. Boyd has served as President at Dingley  from 2009-2014 and 2017-2018. He also served as a general committee member from 2014-2017. When Boyd took over as President in 2009, he had only been at the club for a short period. At that time, there were only 3 members on the committee as well as an administrator.

Boyd put in a lot of time and energy into rebuilding the Dingley Tennis Club. He re-wrote the Constitution of the Tennis Club. From this the committee grew from 3-10 members, and the Dingley Tennis Club employed a new coach, which Boyd was largely responsible for. Boyd also stepped back into the role of President in 2017, this truly shows his love of the great game, but also his love of Dingley Tennis Club.

Boyd has also acted in the roles of Monday Night Men’s Convener, Junior & Senior Convener as well as always supporting others in the running of the night competitions and other competitions such as ANZ Tennis Hotshots. He has often done these roles simultaneously.

Boyd is always willing to put his hand up to assist at many of the club functions as well as the hosting of tournaments. From cooking sausages to serving drinks behind the bar, or his expertise in IT, no task is too little for Boyd.

Along with the current Vice-President, Boyd has liaised with Tennis Victoria in getting Book a Court installed at the club and has put in many hours applying for grants for major projects to benefit the club

Not only has he acted in the above roles, Boyd has also put in many hours doing general maintenance work around the club, particularly when the role is unfulfilled, which is an enormous job maintaining a 16 court complex.

Boyd’s outstanding contribution to Dingley Tennis Club has not gone unnoticed. Dingley Tennis Club is in fine form, and is a viable tennis club within the local community.

Congratulations Boyd and thank you for your contribution to tennis.
