Doncaster, 6 December 2018 | Gabriella Tobias

In what has been a busy season for recognising our valuable tennis volunteers, Tennis Victoria was pleased to present Jill Morrison of the Doncaster Tennis Club with a Highly Commended Service Award recently at a club function.

Richard Chambers, Participation Leader for Metro East was on hand to present Jill with her award. In a special moment for Jill, her family managed to surprise her by attending the event as well.

Jill has been an active member of the Doncaster Tennis Club Committee of Management since 1983. She has been Club Captain, Social Convenor and Junior Convenor. Under her guidance, junior teams have grown.

In her role as Junior Convenor, Jill organises and supervises the annual Junior Club Championships and oversees the transition of her juniors into senior teams that play at ERT, WDTA and Pennant.
Jill donates 15-20 hours per week of her time to Doncaster Tennis Club. This can grow to 40 hours per week leading up to the twice yearly team selections and Junior Club Championships.

Jill has had great success transitioning the Junior Hot Shots players to the Eastern Region Junior Development competition.

Jill has been involved in many projects and sub-committees at the club ranging from resurfacing of courts, to ongoing grounds and maintenance works and coaching contracts. She has been the ERT Delegate for Doncaster TC for many years and has been the club spokesperson for the club at meetings with Manningham Council meetings.

In 1997 Jill was awarded Life Membership of Doncaster Tennis Club.

Congratulations Jill and thank you for your contribution to tennis in Victoria.
