Tennis Victoria has been honoured at the 2017 Victorian Sport Awards with General Manager – Participation, Belinda Kleverlaan, claiming the La Trobe Business School Victorian Sports Administrator of the Year.

The event, held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and hosted by Francis Leach, was an opportunity to recognise the outstanding achievements of athletes, teams, administrators, coaches and volunteers.

As General Manager – Participation, Kleverlaan is responsible for increasing the participation across a variety of programs. Her success has translated to the enormous growth of students enrolled in the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program.

Kleverlaan has dedicated many years to both Tennis Victoria and Tennis Australia but was quick to thank her support network for the assistance they provide.

“Shout out to our CEO Matthew Kennedy who is always very supportive, the Participation team in particular at Tennis Victoria – an amazing crew … and a special shout out to my children Jasmine and Briley,” Kleverlaan said.

This particular award has been won by a host of notable names, including: Lindsay Gaze (1999), Andrew Demetriou (2012) and Kate Palmer (2013).

Tennis Victoria also wishes to congratulate Luqman Latif who was awarded with the prestigious Southern Cross Trophies 2017 Victorian Young Volunteer of the Year.

Latif is from the La Trobe University Tennis Club and has assisted the club in obtaining sponsorship from Prelli Tennis, Tennis Australia and cafes from La Trobe University.
