The first year of the newly formed Associations Junior League (AJL) has witnessed high-quality tennis played by Victoria’s next generation of stars across metropolitan Melbourne and Geelong.

As the season draws to a close, the Player of the Year awards have been announced.

The award is presented to the best performing player in each division of Associations Junior League, taking into account their singles and doubles results throughout the home and away season.

This year sees the first time the award will be presented to all grades and not just those participating in the A grade for each age group.

The Boys 16A top award was won by Eastern Regions’ Aaron Cartledge who scored 283 out of a possible 300 points. Aaron will be hoping he can continue his good form as he leads the Eastern Region 16A team into the Grand Final this weekend against North Eastern Junior.

Vanessa Alfaro from Eastern Region took out the top prize in the Girls 14A competition scoring a floorless 300 points. Like Aaron, Vanessa will also be looking to carry her form into the Grand Final as Eastern Region play Bayside-Moorabbin Blue this weekend in the Grand Final.
