Vic’s on Court (14 December 2016 edition)

Well done to our Victorian’s for their recent success on court:

  • John Peers won his first ATP Masters Doubles Title with partner Henri Kontinen (Finland) at the Shanghai Masters in November.
  • The Doubles pair qualified for the Barclay ATP World Tour Championships event in London where they won the season ending ATP Doubles World Tour Finals. John Peers now has a World Doubles ranking of #9
  • Sam Groth won the ATP Challenger Las Vegas Tennis Open in Nevada. He then partnered with Brian Baker (USA), to win the ATP Challenger Men’s Tennis Championships Doubles Title in Charlottesville, USA.
  • Arina Rodionova teamed up with Asia Muhammad (USA), to win the Women’s $50,000 ITF Futures Bendigo International Doubles Title in Bendigo, Victoria
  • Daniel Nolan won his first ITF Futures Doubles Title with Finn Tearney (NZ) at the Tennis Wollongong International in NSW.  
  • Lucas Vuradin won the AMT Platinum+ Victorian Hardcourt Championships Men’s Singles Title
  • Destanee Aiava won the AMT Platinum+ Victorian Hardcourt Championships Women’s Singles Title
  • Eliza Long and Mary Ann Liu combined to win the AMT Platinum+ Victorian Hardcourt Championships Women’s Doubles Title
  • Destanee Aiava won the 18/u Australian Championship Singles Title at the 2016 December Showdown at Melbourne Park earning a Wildcard into the 2017 Australian Open Women’s main draw. She defeated fellow Victorian Jaimee Fourlis in the singles final.
  • Joshua Charlton and fellow Victorian Jeremy Taylor, won the 18/u Australian Championship Doubles Title at the 2016 December Showdown at Melbourne Park
  • Jamiee Fourlis and Jeanette Lin partnered to win the 18/u Australian Championship Doubles Title at the 2016 December Showdown at Melbourne Park
