7 December 2016 | Tennis Victoria

Congratulations to Keon Park Tennis Club’s Barbara Curry, who was awarded a 2016 Premier’s Volunteer Champions Award, in the ‘Impact’ category.

Sixty outstanding volunteers received their awards at a special celebration and ceremony at Government House on Sunday 4 December 2016.

The Premier’s Volunteer Champions Awards celebrate and recognise the extraordinary contributions of all volunteers in Victoria, and the vital role they play in creating happier, healthier and well-connected communities.

A long serving volunteer in the tennis community, Barbara is well known for her work with underprivileged youth in the Reservoir area.

Funded by Tennis Victoria’s ACE Grants Program, the Keon Park Tennis Club deliver an after school program for students from the Reservoir East Primary School. The program is delivered by the club’s professional coach and due to increasing numbers of participants, an assistant coach also helps to deliver the sessions.

Financial support from the ACE funding, the City of Darebin and the donation of a bus from the local high school has helped offset the transport and coaching costs.

Congratulations Barbara!
