22 December 2015 | Tennis Victoria

Melbourne Park played host to the inaugural School Sport Red Ball National Final which saw 11 primary schools playing off for the title of Australia’s best earlier this month.

Valkstone Primary and Mount View Primary schools won their way through to the national final by placing first and second respectively at the School Sport Victoria State Championships only two days earlier.

There were many great battles throughout the day and once again the tennis and sportsmanship was outstanding, highlighting the exceptional talent that has been captured already within this program.

Valkstone Primary capped off an amazing week, with a terrific third place finish against a tough opponent, whilst Mount View primary went one step further than their efforts at the state finals, and were crowned the inaugural School Sport Victoria Red Ball National Champions! An awesome achievement and one they should be very proud of.

The sporting schools program has come along in leaps and bounds in 2015, with the national final a true reflection of this.

Tennis Victoria are looking forward to 2016 in the hope we can uncover more exceptional talent that exists within our primary schools and getting even more children playing the great game of tennis!
