For the seventh year since its inception, the Darranggeeyt Festival of Tennis once again provided nearly 100 indigenous children from all across Victoria, their first experience of the sport.

Held over two days at the National Tennis Centre at Melbourne Park, the Festival brings indigenous children together to participate in skills clinics, coaching, talent assessment, tournament as well as a tour around the home of the Australian Open Grand Slam.

In 2015, children from Dandenong to Lalor, took part in the festival, each receiving an ANZ Hot Shots racquet, hat and Darranggeeyt t-shirt. After being put through their paces with various tennis drills and games, several talented participants will be awarded a scholarship to continue to play at their local tennis club.

This years’ event was run with the ongoing support of Tennis Victoria and also the City of Melbourne.
