The inaugural Tennis Victoria Grass Court Forum was held at the Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club on Thursday.

Thirty five grass court enthusiasts attended from across the state including representatives from Wodonga, Swan Hill, Echuca, Wangaratta, Bendigo, Shepparton, Warrnambool, Geelong, Colac, Maffra, Kooyong and Royal South Yarra.

The group were treated to presentations from industry professionals Shayne Ried, Turf Consultant for the recent Davis Cup tie in Darwin, and Daniel Docherty, senior territory manager for Syngenta.

Royal South Yarra Tennis Club court curator Bill Turner also took the group on a tour of the grounds, showing off the 10 grass courts at one of Melbourne’s largest clubs.

The initiative aims to share knowledge and experience for the science of growing and curating grass tennis courts with the hope of producing information resources for tennis clubs in the future.

This years’ event was run with the support of Syngenta and Simplot, with special thanks to Green Keeper at Swan Hill Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, Dan Gardner.
