15 April 2015 | Tennis Victoria

The Victorian Junior State Championships wrapped up on Friday 10 April 2015 at Dendy Park Tennis Club.

Over 870 matches were completed across the week with over 420 players including 130 from interstate. Matches were held at Beaumaris Lawn Tennis Club, Parkdale Tennis Club, Dingley Tennis Club, Glen Iris Valley Recreation Club and Dendy Park Tennis Club.

Tuesday’s rain slowed the progress of matches, however all venues recovered to be back on track for finals.

It is pleasing for Victoria that 50% of main draw singles finalists hail from Victoria highlighting the depth and development of tennis in the state.

In an all Victorian final, talented youngster and No. 1 seed Alex Bulte (Devon Meadows, VIC) claimed the Boys’ 12/u singles title defeating Enzo Aguiard (Parkville VIC) 6-4 6-1.

Likely to be his last tournament in the 12/u age group, Bulte said he was feeling confident throughout the week and focussed on picking it up as he got through the rounds.

It was a marathon battle in the Girls’ 14/u singles final between the top seeds (1) Lisa Mays (NSW) and (2) Mia Vukicevic (Boronia, VIC). Vukicevic prevailed 7-6 (3) 2-6 7-6 (8).
