The new FAST4 format hits the Victorian Tournament scene.

Tennis World Melbourne Park is set to host the first tournament of its kind in Victoria, from Friday 17 October to Sunday 19 October. Players will be challenged with this new exciting format in the AMT Bronze tournament.

So, what is the FAST4 format?

1.       It’s the first to 4 games
2.       There are no lets
3.       There’s a tiebreaker at 3 games all – first to 5 points
4.       And there’s no ad scoring

Ross Davis, Program Coordinator at Tennis World, says “Tennis World is excited to be holding our first FAST4 AMT. This new format is great news for players who are looking to complete their tournament commitments in less than two and a half days. This event is being held outside work and school times to give as many players as possible the opportunity to play.

The scoring format ensures that matches will be short and sharp with players sure to benefit by playing in a consistent pressure situation. And the bonus with the FAST4 AMT Bronze is that full points and prize money are on offer for possibly only half the time commitment.”

Tennis Victoria’s Tournaments Manager Andrew Reynolds is enthusiastic about the new format. “FAST4 promotes a wonderful opportunity for players of all ages to come and ply their trade with this modern and fast tennis format. Tennis Victoria is thrilled to have Tennis World host the first such tournament in Victoria with plans for more FAST4 tournaments to be offered across metropolitan Melbourne and regionally in 2015.”
