After a blockbuster double header weekend of the final 2 rounds of Tennis Victoria Premier League (TVPL) action, the top 4 teams booked their finals spots with some very close and intense matches determining the make up of the top 4.

Heading into the final round of the men’s competition only 2 points seperated 3rd to 5th with Kooyong Lawn TC , MCC TC and Dingley TC all still in contention.

The formidable Grace Park Lawn TC team highlighted with James Lemke, Dane Propoggia, Adam Hubble and Jarryd Maher are  firm competition favorites and disposed of MCC TC 5 rubbers to 1 to secure top spot while competition surprise packets Waverley Tennis clinched second position with a victory over the Country All Stars .

Dingley TC  faced Kooyong Lawn TC  in a high stakes match with the winner assured of a finals spot. In an absorbing battle the Dingley TC defeated Kooyong by just 2 games after rubbers and sets were even, in one of the matches of the season.

Despite the loss Kooyong Lawn TC were also able to hold onto their overnight position within the top 4, thanks to MCC TC only acquiring 1 rubber win point in their clash against the might of Grace Park Lawn TC.

The men’s semi finals will see the undefeated Grace Park Lawn TC take on Dingley TC  in a first versus fourth battle at Grace Park Lawn TC on Wednesday 26th March commencing at 6:00pm and giant killers Waverley Tennis take on Kooyong Lawn TC in a second versus third battle at the Doveton TC on Wednesday 26th March at 7:00pm.

The women’s competition entered the final round with the top 4 teams determined and the undefeated MCC TC team led by Zoe Hives and Jaimee Fourlis certain to finish on top and the new league favorites.

In an intruiging battle and a replay of last years final Delahey Rec TC and Kooying Lawn TC faced off with the winner earning the chance for a home final and second spot with the knowledge that a MCC victory over Grace Park Lawn TC would secure this.

Kooyong sent an ominous warning to the rest of the competition with a solid 4 to 2 rubbers victory with Molly Polak and Alana Parnaby impressive and highlighting the depth of quality in the Kooyong squad. Delahey Rec will look to rectify this with their last chance to defend their 2013 title in the knockout semifinals.

Giant killers MCC TC in a tight contest were able to grant Kooyong Lawn TC their home semifinal wish and second spot, by defeating Grace Park Lawn TC by a set, and meaning a finish of third spot for Grace Park Lawn TC.

In the women’s semi finals on Wednesday 26th March at 7:00pm the undefeated and top of the table MCC TC led by Zoe Hives will take on fourth placed and last year’s champions Delahey Rec led by Viktorija Rajicic at the MCC TC, and last year’s Runners Up Kooyong Lawn TC  will tackle the highly talented Grace Park Lawn TC at Kooyong Lawn in a second versus third semi final battle.
