Tennis Victoria yesterday announced that the 58th Inter-regional Country Championships will be held at the home of Mt Prospect Tennis Association in Creswick.

To be held from 3 – 5 January 2014 the Inter-regional event is a fantastic opportunity for all 11 Country regions to compete in a team based event.  Playing singles, doubles and mixed doubles from 12/u – 45+ there will be over 250 tennis players converging on Creswick for the event.

Tennis Victoria Tournaments Manager Andrew Reynolds said “It’s a pleasure to announce the host venue of the 58th Inter-regional Country Championships as Mt Prospect Tennis Association. After the success of the 2013 event in Swan Hill we look forward to bringing this prestigious event to Creswick for the first time.’

Also present at the launch was Hepburn Shire Council Mayor Cr Don Henderson. Excited about the announcement for the region Mayor Cr Henderson said he had been coming to the tennis club since 1967 and that his children had played and coached at the club so he was excited to see such a prestigious event being brought to the region.

Barwon region have won the past five events. They will go into the 2014 event hoping to equal their record of six Inter-regional victories in a row as previously set by them between 2000 – 2005.
