Tennis Victoria is proud to have launched its Facilities Blueprint 2025-2029, a forward-looking strategic framework designed to modernise and future-proof tennis infrastructure across Victoria and support long-term participation, competition, and community outcomes.
Launched during Opening Week of the Australian Open at Tennis Victoria’s Friends in Government event, the Blueprint provides a coordinated approach to infrastructure planning, investment, and delivery – a clear roadmap to guide investment, access, sustainability, and partnerships across the state’s tennis network.
Developed with support from Inside Edge Sport & Leisure Planning, the Facilities Blueprint sets a coordinated approach to planning and delivering fit-for-purpose, inclusive and environmentally sustainable venues from grassroots to state-level facilities. Recognising the central role councils play as primary investors in community tennis infrastructure, while aligning with national direction and technical expertise.
Building on the 2024 Facilities Framework, the Blueprint reflects a shift toward more inclusive, adaptable, and resilient venues, while responding to key challenges facing the sector; including ageing infrastructure, climate-related risks, financial pressures and changing participation demands.
The Blueprint supports Tennis Victoria’s broader strategic direction through to 2028 and identifies priority infrastructure projects across the state, including investment in Regionally Strategic Venues such as the Geelong Regional Tennis Centre – a new build more than 15 years in the making. The centre will service more than 75,000 new residents in Armstrong Creek and the wider Geelong region, support more than 30,000 participants, and act as a hub for South West Victoria.
It also aligns with initiatives such as the Lighting up Victorian Tennis Project and a pipeline of priority projects delivered in partnership with councils and clubs statewide.
Tennis Victoria CEO Kim Kachel said the Blueprint is a critical tool to support sustainable growth and strong partnerships across the state.
“The Facilities Blueprint provides a clear, shared framework for how we plan, invest in and deliver tennis infrastructure across Victoria. It’s about creating inclusive, adaptable and sustainable venues that support participation, competition and strong community outcomes – now and into the future. By working together with councils and government, we can future-proof our facilities and ensure tennis continues to thrive in communities across Victoria.”
The Facilities Blueprint is designed to benefit tennis clubs, local councils, communities, players and the broader tennis ecosystem by providing clarity, consistency and confidence in infrastructure planning and investment.
