1 June 2026 | Tennis Victoria

Tennis Victoria is deeply saddened by the passing of Ian Jenkins, a valued contributor to our sport and Life Member of Tennis Victoria, whose impact on tennis in Victoria will be felt for many years to come.

A member of the Camberwell community, Ian dedicated significant time and expertise to strengthening the governance and financial foundations of Tennis Victoria. In February 2007, he was appointed as the inaugural Chair of the Tennis Victoria Audit and Governance Sub-Committee, a role he held with distinction for many years. Through his leadership, Ian played a critical role in shaping the organisation’s approach to audit, risk management, compliance, financial management and reporting, as well as investment strategy.

Ian’s influence is reflected in a number of key initiatives that continue to support the organisation today, including the establishment of a Risk Register, Debtors Policy, purchase control protocols and the Investment Policy. His considered and pragmatic approach ensured Tennis Victoria grew with strong governance and accountability at its core.

With a Chartered Accounting career spanning 50 years, Ian brought a wealth of professional experience across organisations of all sizes. His expertise in corporate restructuring, financial management and finance raising proved invaluable in supporting the long-term sustainability of tennis in Victoria.

Beyond his contributions to tennis, Ian was deeply committed to the broader community. He served as honorary Treasurer for a number of not-for-profit organisations, was an active member of Rotary, and dedicated close to 20 years of service to Beyond Blue including an 8 year period as Company Secretary.

In recognition of his outstanding service, Ian was awarded the Tennis Victoria Tennis Service Award in 2015, acknowledging his significant and lasting contribution to the sport. He was also honoured with Life Membership of Tennis Victoria in December 2022, recognising more than 16 years of leadership as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.

Tennis Victoria extends its sincere condolences to Ian’s family, friends and colleagues. We thank him for his dedication, integrity and passion for tennis, and acknowledge the lasting legacy he leaves across the Victorian tennis community.
